Angela has a background in education. She is an experienced language teacher, academic developer and researcher with particular interests in language learning motivation and anxiety, transition from school to university and social science research methods across different educational sectors.

Biography
Angela did her first degree in European Studies at Queen Mary, University of London. She also did a PGCE in Modern Languages and taught French and German in the secondary sector and EFL in France before moving into higher education. She joined LLAS in 2003 after having worked as a research assistant at the Universities of Southampton and Surrey. Angela has an M.A. in Education and a PhD in Applied Linguistics (motivation in speaking) from the University of Southampton. She also has expertise in anxiety in language learning, transition from school to university and social science research methods and has published research in these areas. Angela has extensive experience of resource development.

- Developing resources and workshops for professional development in the areas of language teaching and social science research methods with particular responsibility for Scotland
- Designing and carrying out research and development projects concerning language teaching and learning across different education sectors
- Leading on the development of resources for schools and for language students
- Supporting the Routes into Languages programme
