This text is taken from the third line of one of Christine de Pizan's teachings to her son probably written in 1398 when Jean du Castel left Paris for England. Initial letters often appear detached from their word, here the first word is De, 'of' in English. And accented characters were still not used at the end of the fourteenth century. Notice the final e has what is called une corne but this is not an e acute accent (un accent aigu) even though the modern word is accented on its final e.
