Invitation to bid : Guest speaker fund
News summary
The Subject Centre has a small amount of funding available to support colleagues in UK HE institutions who wish to invite Guest Speakers to contribute to staff development in the learning and teaching of Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies within their institution.
The funds available can be used to cover speaker travel costs (within the UK only) and a small honorarium (not in excess of £150) if appropriate. The maximum sum for which institutions can bid is £200. Bids can be submitted at any time.
Criteria
Successful bids will fulfil the following criteria
- Topics offered must be pedagogic in nature and relevant to the teaching and learning of Languages, Linguistics or Area Studies in HE
- Presentations will take the form of any of the following: practical demonstrations, case studies, pedagogic research (including practice-based or action research), policy overviews, discussion/debate/roundtable, staff training. NB If you wish to offer something not listed please contact the Subject Centre to discuss it
- A follow-up report/paper/learning resource will be submitted for publication on the Subject Centre website
- Staff from any other UK HE institution will be eligible to attend (the Subject Centre will assist with publicity)
- Room and catering costs will be covered by the host institution
